“Wibbly-Wobbly Sexy-Wexy.” Don’t you just feel more sexy saying that? This is a new term coming out from the new comics anthology, ANYTHING THAT LOVES, published by Northwest Press. What does it mean? Where did it come from? It is a way to express yourself about your sexuality. It is a liberating way to say that you are more than just a category like “gay” or “straight.” The germ for the idea goes back to a “Doctor Who” episode where the good doctor summarizes time travel as something beyond a simple explanation, all “wibbly-wobbly.”
Northwest Press will be exhibiting at the Los Angeles Time Festival of Books this weekend, and will be in Portland for the Stumptown Comics Fest the weekend after that! Come by and visit and get a cool, new “wibbly-wobbly” button!

As a Doctor Who fan, I really want to love this, but as it is, bisexuals (or pansexuals, etc.), have a very difficult time combating the bias that their identity is not a real or stable lifelong identity, from both gay and straight communities. This not only reinforces the stereotype, but also precludes being taken seriously. Might as well say Wishy-Washy.
Very good point. Yeah, I have to agree with you. On the positive side, perhaps it opens up discussion.
I don’t know. I’m bi but It doesn’t really perpetuate anything. Itis a joke for whovians thinking about it the doctor describes it as that because its hard to explain. And lets be honest, most non conforming sexualities are to a lot of people so…
true, but at the same time it kind of breaks down boundaries in a way, saying well it shouldn’t matter if you’re straight or gay etc, sexuality is one big mess, at the end of the day you love who you love, and everyone should just be ok with that.
We’re all in this together.
Thanks for demonstrating the bias that we bisexuals have to put up with: that there’s something wrong with having a sexuality that isn’t rigidly and permanent defined in binary terms.
I would give the benefit of the doubt and say this slogan, and the comics anthology attached to it, simply means to open up debate. Of course, it’s a hot button issue. If we’re dealing among friends, then live and let live, my friend, live and let live. We need to be kind to our friends. I will agree with you that sexuality deserves thoughtful and serious debate and I would not, by a long shot, consider this book the last word. It does not claim to be the last word anyway but a way to open up discussion. Stay tuned, I’ll offer up a full review soon.

The easiest solution is to ask our friends at Northwest Press. However, I tend to think this was a promotional item only available at comics conventions. I would sell them to you if I could.
