We’ll have to wait until next year for Conan O’Brien at Comic-Con. But Craig Ferguson has got Comic-Con covered for 2014 in a most appropriate role. The Scottish-born late night host is set to moderate HBO’s Game of Thrones panel Friday at Comic-Con.

Any number of people, places, and things stick in our memory and we wonder sometimes what it all means. In Bryan Lee O’Malley’s new graphic novel, “Seconds,” we have a character, Katie, who wonders and wishes about her life constantly. She’s 29-years-old and on the brink of something new in her life but she’s very uncertain about the future. And then, one fateful night, a little goblin girl sits atop her dresser offering some relief from all her worries.
For those of you in Seattle, this is a very interesting weekend. For fans of rising cartoonist talent, Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is the place to be this Sunday, July 13 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. It will be your chance to meet Eleanor Davis and Esther Pearl Watson. This is part of Georgetown Art Attack weekend, July 12-13, 2014.

Batman, meet Uncle Grandpa. Oh sure, we are going to see a full-on Batman at this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego. But there’s also room for other compelling characters, like sweet little ole Uncle Granpa. It sounds surreal already, doesn’t it? Well, if you like comics greats Don Martin, Gary Larson, and Robert Crumb, as well as Golden Age-era animators such as Tex Avery, then Uncle Grandpa has something for you! Uncle Grandpa debuted on Cartoon Network last September as the #1 telecast of the week among boys 6-11. That says it all, right? Scottish warriors knew no limits. They would fight to the death, even beyond death, if possible. Scotland has a fierce and passionate history. One thing I’ve been daydreaming about lately is the original Rat Pack from “Ocean’s Eleven.” I just recently posted a review on the original movie from 1960. This detour into retro Las Vegas has led me to games of chance you can play in the comfort of your own home. I stumbled upon a nice virtual Vegas experience over at Slots Heaven. It’s interesting how there are games catering to every taste, including comics, particularly the Iron Man 3 Slots.

“I hate my job,” says Redmond, our main character. He is stuck in quite a rut. Whoever thought time travelling was exciting, had never seen it from his point of view. In the hilarious comic book, “Out of Time,” we follow Redmond around and get to see the nuts and bolts running of a time travel service. This is a very well-paced comic with a great dry sense of humor. This is one of the comics you can find at the Glasgow Comic Con, Scotland’s Comic Book Festival. That takes place this weekend, July 5-6, 2014. Let’s take a close look at this comic.
